Why Hogwarts Legacy 2 Should Introduce Albus Dumbledore

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is pretty much all but confirmed at this point with plenty of rumors swirling around. We’re also hearing that the second game will be a direct sequel to the first which was a monumental success in its own right.

Now, when we consider the lore of Harry Potter and the characters – there is never going to be any tie-in to the known lore in Harry Potter or The Fantastic Beasts because Hogwarts Legacy is set in 1890 which is still 34 years before the first Fantastic Beasts movie.

There is only one character big enough in the universe that is alive now, and that’s the Hogwarts Headmaster himself, Albus Dumbledore. We never saw him in the game because he’s only around 9 years old at that particular point.

Dumbledore’s first year at Hogwarts was only 2 years later. Technically, our created character’s journey begins in his fifth year so realistically speaking, if the game is going to continue this character’s path then theoretically we could see Albus begin his first year at Hogwarts which would be a huge feat for the game to tie in the lore.

Obviously, it’s going to depend on how much time passes, but it’s likely due to the game’s entire map being built around Hogwarts that it’ll stay there in some capacity. They could opt for another character a few years later but then that would mean our character’s studies at Hogwarts would come to an end.

If we’re to stay with the same character, then I think a one-year time jump to then would allow the writers to introduce Albus. For me personally, I think it would be nice to see. We’ve seen him in his later years, we’ve seen him in his prime (albeit poorly done) and then we could see him be sorted into Gryffindor by the Sorting Hat.

The game already did quite well-establishing lore pretty early on with the Black family and also the Weasely family. It’s nice to see these little touch-ins so we can be somewhat familiar but in a completely brand-new experience – which is what the game brought to the table. By doing so with Dumbledore you’re creating this familiarity with the franchise but it allows JK Rowling (if she’s still onboard for the sequel) and the writers to be a little creative with Albus.

There is some lore already with Albus’ first year at Hogwarts especially around his father’s crimes which could easily be incorporated into the bigger picture. Expanding the franchise and prequel nature of a character when done right can go a long way. I believe they could do that here. Plus, the name of Albus Dumbledore will create intrigue if it’s teased.

There was a lot to like in the first game and I feel like the game has untapped potential when it comes to the Wizarding World but I believe there’s more to go.

What do you think? Do you think they should keep the game completely separate or introduce a character like Dumbledore into it? Let me know in the comments.
