First, let me start this with, Batman is my favourite DC character. I also enjoyed The Dark Knight trilogy. I went to the cinema to watch all 3. So, this article isn’t me claiming they weren’t good, because they were. I just don’t believe they’re as good as people make out.
Years have passed since Bale put down the cowl and left. People still thrive on the show, and best of all, Heath Ledgers spectacular performance as the Joker.
The problem I have with the trilogy is as the article stated, they’re just not as great as people make out. People claim they’re the best superhero movies ever, but I have to politely decline that. People are entitled to their opinions, and that is absolutely fine.
However, Joker, Winter Soldier, Endgame, Infinity War just to name a few do say differently for me.
I just feel like we didn’t get a true adaption of Batman. These are the same fans that claim Batman can beat anything, but it just felt like he was continuously outplayed all trilogy.
We never got any of the Bat-family. We “technically” got Robin in the last one, but it wasn’t an actual Robin. Most of all at least Dick.
Fans also always claim, “Batman has this suit so therefore he wins” – we never saw any of that. He essentially used the same suit throughout.
There was also zero cameos. As mentioned above no Bat-family. Superman. Wonder Woman. Even Harley Quinn was barely introduced. Batman’s main focal point is the Justice League. We didn’t even see him lead into that, at all. Not even a mention of other heroes.
He started his crusade in Batman Begins, by the third movie he was a broken shell of a man. Injuries sustained everywhere and completely struggled. Yes, I get it proves he’s human, but if he’s this almighty, “god-shredding” hero, then why is it by the third movie he can’t even walk?
Not only did we not get the full Batman, but we barely even got any of the detective sides of Batman, which hasn’t been shown much in any live-action Batman movie.
We got a couple of scenes where he found and examined a bullet and that’s basically all the detective work we got in those movies. Where was the “Master Detective” side of Batman, all we got with Bale was the brawler side of Batman?
People will say “Oh but it gave us the greatest versions of these characters” and I agree, but not with every character. Bale wasn’t the best Bruce for me personally. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were incredible.
We barely even got a “home-made” suit. We got a balaclava which lasts about 30 seconds then he jumped straight in with armoured suits. Where was the build-up to the suits? Understandably he did take those armoured suits and build them up, but after this the upgrades were minimal.
Bale did a great job, and the movies were great, but they’re just not this almighty franchise people make them out to be. They had their flaws and could have been better.
What’s your thoughts on the trilogy? We reiterate this is just OUR opinions. We welcome why you think it was great in the comments below, and we would love to see what counter-claims you have against ours written above.
This is just a bit of friendly fun. Please remember that.
