Why I Would Love For Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 To Have A Co-op Feature

We all know by now that Insomniac has done a marvelous job with the Spider-Man franchise. Since 2018 they have released both Spider-Man and Miles Morales and both games have been exceptional.

During the PlayStation showcase, the trailer showed us a glimpse of what’s come with Spider-Man 2 and it shows both Peter and Miles. The vibe I get from the trailer is that both of the characters will be playable which is just so damn awesome.

If you haven’t seen the trailer, then here you go;

Unfortunately though, before we go deeper into this. Insomniac has confirmed co-op will not exist in the game and will remain single-player only. That’s fine by me either way but I want to look at the difference co-op could make.

I’m not saying the game should be similar to Marvel’s Avengers or anything, more so how Gotham Knights is going to be where a friend can drop in and out, or you can play solo.

I’d love nothing more than to be able to swing through New York with a friend, it would be awesome.

Being able to do puzzles with a friend and figure them out together. Clearing out bases and having to think tactfully of the next move. It could add a layer of entertainment the game doesn’t yet have.

Yeah, the games are fun. I’ve platinumed both games on the PS4 and PS5 versions because I can’t get enough of them. The game doesn’t need to put a lot of emphasis on the co-op either. It can be there for you to play if you wish to do so or not.

It feels like Insomniac has taken on the Spider-Man franchise like a champ and it feels like we’re going to be blessed with Spider-Man games for many years to come, including a Wolverine game, so why not add this just for the added replayability for the games?

I know a few people have called for this to happen and it is a fair request to some degree. As I’ve mentioned, yeah the game’s SOLE focus should be on single-player and it always should be. Adding co-op as just an added feature can excite those who like to play games together, similar to Resident Evil 5 in some regard.

Regardless of any co-op features though, I am still so damn excited for this game. If I die before it comes out I’m gonna be angry.
