You know, Sony has not had the best record of putting out decent comic book-related movies, although their standout movie for me is the first Venom movie. I absolutely loved it. The second Venom movie could have been the best but it was far too short, especially for a movie debuting Carnage.
Let’s not mention the mess that was Morbius. Next up is Kraven The Hunter and I’m finally glad he’s getting the love he deserves within a solo movie and obviously being one of the main villains of the Spider-Man 2 video game.
First, the movie is sort of reshuffling the origin of Kraven. Instead of drinking a potion that enhances his abilities, it seems as though the movie is setting up Kraven being attacked by a jacked-up lion and getting a bit of the lion’s blood into his system which causes his senses and abilities to be heightened.
We have to talk about how bloody this movie will be. From the Red Band trailer above, it seems like we’re in store for such a bloody movie with animal attacks, Kraven biting noses off, and more. Aaron Taylor-Johnson looks fantastic in the role too.
Kraven The Hunter is such a fantastic yet unique villain. He’s in it for the thrill of the hunt, that’s all he wants to do. This movie is set before he has his sights on Spider-Man, although there was a moment in the trailer where he was surrounded by spiders and looks afraid of them, could this be a hint towards a potential showdown between the two?
I can already see this movie getting some hate, which would be fair if the movie is bad once it’s released but this movie so far for me looks like a thrill. I can not wait to watch it.
