We’re 7 episodes into the series with only 1 more to go before we wrap up heading into season 2. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is already underway for filming.
We now steam towards Wednesday for the finale after the events of episode 7. Muse is dead and Kingpin feels stronger than he ever does with his political power and the underground at his disposal.
He knows Matt is back in the suit and as a result, he feels more unstable than he ever has. This does leave the question as to where Frank Castle fits into the end of the series. We know from behind the scenes he is featured within the series in full Punisher costume, however, we’re yet to see this.

We’ve only seen Frank in episode 4 thus far, and he doesn’t look like the image above. With only 1 episode left, we can only hope that this is where the image is from, and I do want it to be.
When it was announced that Jon Bernthal was returning to his role as The Punisher, it felt like a big deal. It’s because it is. It’s on par with Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdoch. It makes sense. Netflix did a fantastic job with these characters, I don’t blame Disney for bringing them back instead of rebooting the characters.
Jon Bernthal feels like he was born to play Frank. He has everything to make the role so perfect, and his dynamic with Daredevil across what we saw on Netflix made it even more perfect. It’s why I’m dying to see Frank and Matt team up once again to fight what’s coming.
Another reason is the fact that what we saw in episode 4 felt like a Frank Castle that was beyond lost. No purpose and became a hermit. By having him back out in the field, being able to do what he needs to do makes sense, considering we’ve seen Matt do the same. He’s thrown people off buildings, destroyed two officers in an apartment, and nearly destroyed Muse twice.
It’s this level of attitude why I want to see the pair team up. It’ll be brutal, it’ll be bloody and it’ll be absolutely fantastic entertainment.
The final reason above all else is that I really want to see Jon Bernthal get another season for The Punisher. Daredevil: Born Again has so far done a great job in showcasing the years between Netflix and now, I’d be super interested to see the same for Frank Castle.
Marvel hasn’t had the greatest time on the small screen over the last couple of years, but riding on the coattails of Netflix’s success, if done right, is a good move. After all, I’m happy with the direction the new Daredevil series is going. Disney obviously has enough faith in it to already be shooting a second season before the first has finished. I’d like to see them put that faith in a new Punisher season as well.
I’m super excited for Wednesday. I hope the finale goes out with a bang for what’s been a very good start for Disney.
