After the entire debacle last week of Marvel baiting us all with a ridiculous title, it’s still left a sour taste in my mouth. There’s one glaringly obvious issue as to why and that’s She-Hulk.
I’m genuinely looking forward to this exclusive series, but it doesn’t stop me from worrying about it.
WandaVision was a nice touch between being ridiculous and super dark. What I mean by that is the meaning behind Westview was dark but the world Wanda created was flamboyant though ultimately it had a serious tone.
Agatha is the main antagonist in the show, portraying herself as a wacky, noisy neighbor but harboring her real intentions and that’s power. She’s now to be given her show released on the 18th of September 2024.
I worry that the show may not take this dark tone or seriousness that comes with it and it’ll go silly. This isn’t just an issue with Agatha, it’s an issue with any new Marvel project coming out. It’s trust issues but is it fair to be that way? I mean when you consider She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Love & Thunder which are filled with jokes, it does leave a lot to be desired.
Of course, I’m speculating. I have no idea. We don’t have a trailer or any proper synopsis just yet. All we do know is that the show is set after WandaVision, she’s powerless and looking to regain her powers. There’s a lot to like in that sentence alone but it has to be done right.
People have questioned Marvel’s ability to move forward. There’s been a lot of wasted characters and wasted shows in recent years. They need to make sure if Agatha is to get a show then it needs to go past that. Agatha was fighting a major player within the MCU in Wanda, so it wouldn’t make much sense for her to be a one-season show and then forgotten about as Marvel has done lately.
Either way, as I mentioned, I’m still looking forward to it. There’s been a lack of Marvel content this year which is understandable but this needs to be a show that begins to get people back on board. The fanbase now more than ever is extremely judgemental. It takes a lot to truly blow people away. This year the only show I’ve seen that happen with is Fallout. It remains to be seen but hopefully, Marvel does right by it.
