Why I’m Worried for the Ironheart Series

The release of Ironheart’s MCU series on Disney+ is drawing closer. It is anticipated that the series will debut in early 2024.

We have already seen Dominique Thorne suit up in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and personally, I think she did a fantastic job with the character. She has got me excited for the show although I am worried.

Disney and Marvel have this weird obsession with turning everything too light-hearted. Secret Invasion was the first series in a while with a more serious tone.

I’ve noticed that Marvel’s recent projects tend to prioritize humor over plot development. Personally, I don’t mind if the series explores social justice issues, such as racism. It’s important to address these topics.

Although Ironheart and Iron Man may appear similar in their suits and abilities, it is important to recognize that they are distinct characters. However, it is understandable that people will make comparisons, and Dominique Thorne faces a challenging responsibility in establishing her own presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’m worried because I’m not sure if Disney can successfully incorporate Ironheart as one of the main focuses of the MCU. While Marvel usually makes good choices with the cast, the writers can be hit or miss. Many people are losing faith in the MCU because of this.

One of the concerns I have about the current state of things is the constant attempt at humor. Unfortunately, this approach falls flat and undermines the overall effectiveness of the entertainment. In order to address this issue, it’s important for creators to take a more serious tone from the outset. For example, I find it difficult to watch Thor: Love and Thunder and often skip it when re-watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even during moments meant to be taken seriously, unnecessary jokes detract from the experience.

In fairness, Riri got a serious introduction in Wakanda Forever but this momentum needs to be maintained. I want to see Riri’s struggles, the suit builds, the shadow and legacy of Iron Man – I want to see it done properly. Hope needs to be restored for the MCU in more ways than just writing, the CGI also needs a drastic improvement, especially with the shows.

I would like to witness a proper execution of the Ironheart show. The restoration of hope in the franchise requires more than just good writing. The CGI needs significant improvement, particularly in the shows. Although I am looking forward to the show, I have concerns about its outcome. I hope the individuals involved have considered all the necessary aspects.
