Why Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie is Special

Mortal Kombat is close to releasing in some theaters and on HBO Max or has already released in some international markets. I can not wait to watch it and review it and just take in the awesomeness that I know it will deliver.

But what exactly makes this movie special?

Well I’ll be breaking it down into a few sections of just why this movie is special.

The Fans

First off, the reason why I believe it to be one of the main reasons that make this upcoming movie special is simply the Mortal Kombat fandom. Mortal Kombat has a deep lore and a lot of hardcore fans in which support everything Mortal Kombat, I, myself I don’t class myself as a hardcore fan but I do play the games when I manage to get them.

But the hardcore fans have been waiting literally years for a Mortal Kombat movie, this is their chance to get something they want, something to talk, make videos, and just love. Seeing the passion of fans on the internet for Mortal Kombat games, toys, collectibles, and this movie is amazing to witness.

The Cast

Secondly, the cast is making this movie special in their interviews and promotional material. In every single interview that I’ve seen the cast can not stop talking about being actual fans of the games, growing up either playing them or have always been a fan since they first played the game in an arcade.

With the cast being fans, this means they’ve put their heart and soul into each performance they’ve given in this movie. Their dedication to bringing us the true Mortal Kombat, blood, and brutality that comes with the history of Mortal Kombat is on a different level, I haven’t seen a cast this excited for a movie since the cast interviews for Endgame.

Asian Representation

The movie has cast some incredible Asian actors to star in this blockbuster franchise. Actors like Lewis Tan, Ludi Lin, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, and Max Huang. These actors alone are some incredible talent, legends in the acting business, some present-day icons like Max, Ludi, Lewis, and Joe.

Seeing these on the big screen is amazing, it will feel like witnessing Black Panther all over again, learning about them, bringing Asian talent into the spotlight where many of these actors deserve to be. I grew up with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Bruce Lee, and a few others, I hardly see them in big movies such as Mortal Kombat.

I can not wait to see the Martial Arts that these guys bring out in each other, I’m currently binging “Warrior” starring Joe Taslim, the fight scenes that this guy does is incredible, if Mortal Kombat is even on the same level as his performance in Warrior then it’s going to be absolutely spectacular to witness.

I’m so glad that this movie is coming out and not long after Shang-Chi will release starring Simu Liu to give us and the world amazing representation showcasing incredible Asian talent, Asian culture, and Martial arts.

In the current state the world is in, I fully believe now is the time for all of this. I can not wait to see more.
