Why Stephen Amell Should Return to the Arrowverse

It’s been quite some time now since Amell left his role as the Green Arrow and The Spectre, but his presence is still missed within the Arrowverse, at least it is with me.

Now, despite whatever Stephen has done with the flight, or whatever he’s said I really don’t care. I’m still a huge fan of Stephen and I think his acting abilities are superb.

It also wasn’t long ago that Amell openly said in a podcast he was willing to return, as long as they could find a way to bring him back from the dead (wouldn’t be easy considering he’s The Spectre).

The CEO of the CW Network did say it was unlikely an Arrow show would be revived which is fine, but he did go on to say Stephen would always have a place on the network.

I don’t believe Arrow should be revived, I think the show ran its course and set out what it was supposed to do even if I believe aspects of the show should have been different.

One of the issues that would remain to bring the show back is that most of the cast has moved on, and it wouldn’t serve any purpose, whereas crossovers actually would.

However, Amell can still return to the Arrowverse. It’s clear that because of COVID, the exciting crossovers we’re used to seeing yearly have been halted, but now the light is at the end of the tunnel with that, we can start looking ahead.

The crossovers are always built on surprises, action, cameos and more and this is where Stephen’s return would slot in perfectly.

We know Oliver Queen has been mentioned only a handful of times, and it obviously still stings for Barry – so seeing Barry’s reaction to Oliver again would be amazing. After all, their relationship throughout the journey of The CW Arrowverse has been done and written so well.

Whether they bring him back as The Spectre or the Green Arrow doesn’t really matter, as long as it’s Oliver Queen underneath the mantle than that will be brilliant.

Oliver was always an incredible leader, and always led the entire team within the crossovers in a great way, and it’s good entertainment for the fans too.

Whilst Crisis on Infinite Earths was okay, and because of the scale that particular crossover was, it would be pretty tough to beat but I do think it doesn’t always need to be a villain that threatens the entire world. There’s plenty of villains out there that they could bring in.

Maybe one with such an agenda that forces Oliver back from the afterlife could work, and I really hope it does.
