What I Liked

1. The episode begins with Charles penetrating Magneto’s mind forcing him to restore the Earth’s magnetic core. When this is happening, we get to see The Avengers (Iron Man and Captain America), Daredevil, and Doctor Strange. Unexpected cameos but I loved it even if it was only for a moment.

2. We also get to see Black Panther, Cloak and Dagger, and more mutants such as Omega Red. This episode is delivering all of the cameos and I love every single one of them. Honestly, they didn’t have to add these cameos but they did and it didn’t even take away from the episode.

3. Bastion literally rips Cable’s arm off and LEGIT beats him with it before transforming into a more powerful version of himself. He expresses a desire to give mutants a quick extinction. Honestly, I know nothing about this villain but he is great.

4. Seeing Scott go crazy because Bastion hurt his family is what the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs Scott to be when he is finally introduced into the live-action movies. None of this background character like he was in previous movies. MAKE HIM A BADASS LEADER.

5. The remaining X-Men try their best to stop Asteroid M from crashing into Earth causing a new ice age, they are doing this knowing that this could be the end of them as they know it, Jean and Scott say goodbye to Cable just in case.

6. Charles finally gets through to Magneto and finally MAGNETO LIVES! Magneto reawakens just in time to save the Earth, although, the asteroid explodes causing the X-Men to be separated separately and in different time periods.

7. Apocalypse is coming?

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

Honestly, my favorite moment would be any moment where the writers and creators have Rogue go berserk. She’s absolutely insane when she’s unleashing her entire power and she takes the fight to Bastion until he begins to choke her and Sunspot saves her.

Standout Character

Honestly, while I would like to give this to the entire team, this was between two people, Rogue and Scott. I think I have to give it to Scott. This is the Scott we need to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we need to see Scott as the main leader, not a side character.

Verdict

A fantastic finale for the first season of X-Men ’97. This story was fantastic, it was powerful, impactful, and set up the next season. The action was by far some of the best action scenes I’ve seen throughout this season. The cameos were also really amazing to see.
